Amelie Saves the Day ( France Wins 3-2)
Alize Cornet lost her 2nd Match in this Fed Cup Tie vs Dominika Cibilkova 6-2 , 5-7 ,6-4 giving the Slovaks a 1-2 lead in the tie .
Amelie won her 2nd match in the Fed Pup Tie today beating Daniela Huntuchova 7-5 , 6-4 in a amazing match that lasted 2 Hours and 22 mins Amelie played a brilliant match to give France a chance she gave France a 2-2 tie .
Amelie was chosen to replace teammate Mathilde Johansson in playing the deciding match in this Tie she was partnered with Nathalie Dechy to lift France to Victory to keep them safe in the World Group . Amelie and Nat played a brilliant 3 set victory vs Cibilkova/Huntuchova winning 4-6, 6-1 , 6-4 . Giving France the 3-2 lead and the Tie Win . Amelie was the Force behind all of France 3 Points .

France and Slovak Republic are tied 1-1 in their Playoff tie .Alize Cornet Lost her 1st match to Daniela Hantuchova 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-4.
Amelie won her 1st match Finally Beating Dominika Cubulkova who in the 3 times she played her Amelie has lost all 3 times but today she beat the teen 4-6 , 6-2 , 6-3 . Amelie had 43 Ue , 3 DF and a serve of 58% along with 10 Aces in a match that took 2 Hours and 12 Mins.

Target Fed Cup
Amelie got back to training with the tie that will pit France against the Czech Rep in Fed Cup...

France Lost their Quater Final Fed cup Tie vs Italy losing all 5 matches Amelie Mauresmo lost her second match vs Sara Errani 3-6 ,4-6 . France Off To Rough Start Down 0 - 2
France is off to a rough start going down 0-2 to Italy on Day One if their Fed Cup Tie . Amelie who was first up Lost her battle vs Favia Pennetta 6-2 , 6-7(7-9) , 4-6 in a thrilling 3 set battle that lasted 2 Hours and 43 Mins Amelie had plenty of chances to Win this match and often made Error's on crucial points . Alize Cornet Lost her Battle to Francesca Schiavone 6-1, 2-6, 8-6 , Alize fought hard but in the end was not enough The youngster took the loss hard.
For France to win this Tie vs Italy they will need to win all 3 Matches tomorrow Alize is first up to play Pennetta , Amelie is second up to play Schiavone then the 2 teams will Play a Doubles match . France has never come back from being down 0-2 But hopefully Tomorrow will be the First . Allez Les Blues .

Selected in singles by the captain of the French fed cup team Nicolas Escude,Amelie will start things against Flavia Pennetta.It's worth nothing that France has lost 2 consecutive ties against Italy in 2006 and 2007.Les "Bleues" certainly have payback in mind ...

Mauresmo in complete control
Former Wimbledon and Australian Open champion Amelie Mauresmo cruised to a 6-1 ,6-4 victory over Japan’s Ai Sugiyam in the first reverse singles match on Sunday to clinch their Fed Cup by Paribas World Group Playoff tie 3-0 for France at Ariake Colosseum.
Relying on a sweeping forehand and slicing backhand, Mauresmo took just 1 hour and 15 minutes to dispatch Sugiyama and assure France of remaining in the World Group in 2009.
“I felt like I had control of the match from the beginning,” Mauresmo said. “I could read her balls well and played strongly from the baseline.”
In the fourth dead singles rubber, Virginie Razzano defeated Aiko Nakamura 6-4, 6-4 and in the doubles, Ayumi Morita and Ai Sugiyama got a point back for Japan, claiming victory over Alize Cornet and Nathalie Dechy 6-1, 6-3.

France on top in Tokyo
Former world No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo and Virginie Razzano gave France a 2-0 lead with victories in the singles matches on the opening day of their Fed Cup by Paribas World Group Playoff at Ariake Colosseum on Saturday afternoon.
Mauresmo overpowered teenager Ayumi Morita 6-0 ,6-2 in the first match, while Razzano downed Ai Sugiyam 6-1, 7-5 in the second.
Displaying an overpowering forehand and wicked backhand, Mauresmo finished off Morita in just over one hour. “I played well today,” Mauresmo said. “I felt comfortable on the court. I think she was a little tight out there.”

Mauresmo kicks off for France
Former World No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo will begin France’s quest to remain in the Fed Cup by Paribas World Group when she takes on Japan teenager Ayumi Morita in the opening singles match of their World Group Play-off at Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo.
Mauresmo, designated France’s No. 1 player for the tie and currently ranked 21st in the world, will play Japan No. 2 Morita, an 18-year-old from Gunma Prefecture, for the first time ever in the opener on the indoor hardcourt surface.
Japan No. 1 Ai Sugiyama will battle France’s No. 2 Virginie Razzano in the second singles match on the first day of play. Razzano holds a 3-2 edge over Sugiyama 3-2 in five career matches.

Georges Goven, captain of the French team, is confident heading into the showdown with Japan.
“We have to be considered the favorites,” said Goven. “But the travel can be a factor in a tie like this. We have players coming from France and the U.S. The journey here is not so easy.” Goven also pointed out that the Fed Cup format differs from that of a regular tournament. “When you are playing against the host nation, the fans can get behind them and make it difficult for you.”
France is 6-1 alltime against Japan in Fed Cup play. The French thrashed Japan 5-0 in a World Group first-round tie in Limoges on clay in 2007, dropping just one set along the way.
Japan has not beaten France in the Fed Cup in 35 years, with its last triumph being a 2-1 win in a World Group Consolation Round semifinal played on clay in West Germany back in 1973.
France defeated Japan 4-1 on the Ariake hardcourt in a World Group I first-round tie in its previous trip here in 1997.
“I have not played at Ariake since I was in a tournament there eight or nine years ago,” Mauresmo noted on Friday. “It was a fast surface then, and from what Nathalie tells us it is still very fast.”
Japan captain Minoru Ueda did not seem concerned about losing Morigami to injury. “These things happen,” Ueda said with a shrug. “I have confidence in Sugiyama and the other players.”
Japan’s hopes will rest on the shoulders of Sugiyama, presently the ranked third in the world in doubles and 37th in singles. If she can find the formula to defeat Mauresmo in their reverse singles match on Sunday, her expertise in the doubles could provide Japan with a chance to win the tie.
“With Amelie playing, France has a strong team,” Sugiyama said. “We will do our best to make it a competitive tie.”

Fed Cup: France vs Japan
France will play World Group play-off in Tokyo from April 26-27.Alize Cornet, Virginie Razzano , Nathalie Dechy and Amelie are the selected players for France .The two teams have met seven times, most recently in last year's first round in Limoges, when the French won 5-0 for the loss of just one set. Since they first meeting in 1965, Japan have won just once against the two-time champions.

J’ai toujours dit que c’était ponctuel, et je confirme que je serai du déplacement en avril au Japon», a-t-elle déclaré à l’issue de sa victoire au 1er tour de l’Open Gaz de France contre Julie Ditty.

L'équipe de France connaît son adversaire pour les barrages de la Fed Cup. Battues en Chine le week-end dernier, les filles de Georges Goven retourneront en Asie les 26 et 27 avril puisqu'elles rencontreront le Japon avec l'objectif de se maintenir dans le groupe mondial. Une destination lointaine qui, en pleine tournée européenne, risque encore une fois de ne pas motiver toutes les cadres de l'équipe de France...

Beaten in China last weekend, the girls of Georges Goven will be returning to Asia on 26 and 27 April as they meet with Japan with the aim of keeping pace in the world group. A distant destination which, in the full European tour, could once again not to motivate all cadres of the French team ...

Tennis - Fed Cup - Mauresmo still says NO
Amelie Mauresmo has not changed her mind. Even officially called by the coach Georges Goven to compete in the first round of the Fed Cup in China on 2 and 3 February, the Frenchwoman confirmed Friday that she would not, according to the newspaper L'Equipe. After a 2007 season marred by injuries and an early season difficult 2008 season, Mauresmo (18e World) has decided to give priority to her individual to try to rejoin the top 10.
Another question mark before this perilous trip: participation or not Marion Bartoli, who also had announced would be exempt from this meeting. The fate of Tatiana Golovin also remains unknown, since the player, injured her back, did not know whether she would be able to take her place.
