Amélie continues training despite adverse weather conditions ...

Amélie, "I continue my preparation even though the weather was very surprising because it is raining here since my arrival. The first few days were quite difficult with the time difference, but it is something which I am accustomed, and now that I to manage better and better over the years. yet it is still rather difficult not to fall too early to sleep at night! As far as Christmas, I have nothing particular to do, fortunately, that the phone exists to keep in touch with friends and family to celebrate Christmas from afar. "

"I am ready for 2008!"

Amelie flies next Thursday, steering Australia to start her 2008 season.

- Amélie, how do you feel now, after more than 6 weeks of intensive drives and on the eve of leaving for Australia?
I feel really good, I made a very intense preparation without having to change or modify what we had planned with my team. It now remains for me to play a maximum number of points to get on my first match with all my cues from Thursday.

- What will be your program on the spot as soon as you arrive?

As always after a long trip, I will have to adapt as quickly as possible the conditions on the ground. I know it will be very hot but I come early enough so that everything is set up day after day. I shall play my first game undoubtedly the 31 and before that there will be other players to matches and Fitness.

- You go to Australia with great hope and enthusiasm, can you give us the goals that you have set for the year 2008?
What counts for me is to first find the faster my best level tennis. I know that I am very well prepared, which I am really at my best physically, I need the victories chain to be in great confidence and be able to reach my goals for 2008. In season there are important deadlines for me, the Grand Slam tournaments, open GDF always so special for me and of course the Olympics.

- You spent a lot of time at home in Geneva in recent weeks, apart from your drives, as you did when you? Have you had time to do your Christmas shopping?
It's true that I was able to spend time at home more than in previous years because this year we do not prepare ourselves gone on mountains and it also felt good to return in the evening at home rather than in a room hotel. I have not done much for this time period at the end of the day I rather want to be early dinner at the apartment or at Guy (Forget) with my team and some friends.

- A message for your fans?
This year, I will start very early in Australia since I will take the plane Thursday, Dec. 20. Before leaving, I want to wish you a very Happy Holiday and above all my best wishes for 2008 and also thank you for your support and your m

Fed Cup-China-without Mauresmo

Fed Cup - Chine-France sans Mauresmo

Eurosport - mar., 11 déc. 13:36:00 2007

Fed Cup-China-without Mauresmo

Eurosport-Tuesday, Dec. 11. 13:36:00 2007

Amelie Mauresmo does not dispute the first round of the Fed Cup in China in early February with the French team. 18 th World currently, the French had decided to focus her career on the WTA Tour. Since 1998, she had missed only 8 matches in Fed Cup on 18 played.

For the ninth time in her career, Amelie Mauresmo will miss a meeting of the Fed Cup. Since 1998, and her first match against the Swiss Patty Schnyder, she participated in all campaigns, missing only eight confrontations with any semis. "If the meeting reportedly took place in France, I could add it to my program, but go to China! For once I prefer to focus on the individual side," said Amelie Mauresmo in newspaper L'Equipe published Tuesday. In a delicate situation, one that has played the role of locomotive tennis french made a choice that does not dishonours. The emancipation of Marion Bartoli and Tatiana Golovin, which has already been N.1 of the team in 2007, have the capacity to take over.

Moreover, the season Mauresmo, who dropped from 3rd to 18th largest in the world in 2007, is crucial. She will be 29 years in July and should not disperse if it is to catch up with the the top 10. Like Roger Federer, who has also so often snubbed the ordeal, she will attempt to better control her schedule to concentrate on the major tournaments. It remains to Georges Goven (captain), and Loic Courteau (coach of the French team who is also the coach of Amélie) to manage the problems of the new generation: the injuries of Golovin and desire of Bartoli. It will also follow behind the more experienced players that are Virginie Razzano, Nathalie Dechy and Séverine Brémond, the possible arrival of Alizé Cornet.

Thursday November 15, 11:03

"I resumed training now for a good week, everything's going very well," said the former world number one on its website Thursday. Soon-resumption!

- Bientôt la reprise ! : 03/11/2007

Mauresmo to play Gold Coast

Two-time Grand Slam singles champion and former world No.1 Amelie Mauresmo has been confirmed for the 2008 Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts.

The tournament will be held at Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast from Sunday 30 December 2007 to Saturday 5 January 2008.

Mauresmo said she was very excited to be starting the 2008 season at the Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts.

“This will be my first visit to the Gold Coast and my debut at the tournament, so there is a lot to look forward to,” Mauresmo said.

“Playing the Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts will be a great opportunity to open the year against quality competition and finetune my preparation for the Australian Open two weeks' later.

“Of course, Australia is where I won my first Grand Slam title back in 2006, so I have special memories of the country and always enjoy coming back,” she said.

Following her win at the Australian Open, the 28-year-old Frenchwoman went on to claim her second Grand Slam title at Wimbledon only a few months later and finished runner-up at the prestigious season-ending Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Championships.

This year she accepted three major awards: the Legion of Honour, presented by French President Jacques Chirac (in March), Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Player of the Year for achievements in 2006 (also in March) and the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year for achievements in 2006 (in April).

Inspired to take up tennis at the age of four after watching Yannick Noah win the 1983 French Open, Mauresmo became the first French player – male or female – to achieve the world No.1 ranking in 2004, the same year she won the singles silver medal at the Athens Olympics.

Tournament director Liz Smylie said, “It's fantastic to have Amelie Mauresmo confirmed for the 2008 Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts. She's such a talented, athletic player; amazing to watch in action.

“Her achievements in tennis are remarkable: reaching the world No.1 ranking, claiming two Grand Slam titles in one year and winning an Olympic medal.

Mauresmo “not on the level”

Tennis-WTA - Moscow - Mauresmo “not on the level”

Demolished in three sets Tuesday by Vera Zvonareva (4-6, 6-3,6-4) with the tournament of Moscow, Amélie Mauresmo draws up a severe assessment of her match and its end of season, in L'Equipe of Thursday. “I am not on the level, she entrusted, in any the fundamental ones: tennis, physique, the mental one”.

Since her return of operation to the appendix last on March 18, the Frenchwoman disputed nine tournaments for an assessment worrying of 14 victories for 10 defeats. More alarming still, Mauresmo did not sign any victory against a top ten player during this time.

For the player, her first defect is “the lack of competition. And then there are problems of concentration: When I feel the things to escape to me, frustration goes up.” Underlining, after the match, “to have the balls but a also little discouragement”, the compétitrice should nevertheless be present the next week in Zurich. With the hope to be made a lie: “I become a player of non-distinction”, she acknowledges.
